are pleased to announce that Professor David Nunan and Mr.
Dave Sperling have kindly agreed to give keynote speeches during
the ELT online conference.
Professor
David Nunan (http://ec.hku.hk/dcnunan)
is Chair Professor of Applied Linguistics and Director of the
English Centre at the
University of Hong Kong. Prior to this, he was Director
of Research and Development, NCELTR, and Coordinator of Postgraduate
Programs in Linguistics at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.
He has published over 100 books and articles in the areas of curriculum
and materials development, classroom-based research, and discourse
analysis. His recent publications include Introducing Discourse
Analysis (Penguin Books), The
Self-Directed Teacher (Cambridge University Press), Voices
from the Language Classroom (with Kathleen M. Bailey) (Cambridge
University Press), The
Cambridge Guide to Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
(with R. Carter) (Cambridge University Press) and Pursuing
Professional Development: The Self as Source (with K. Bailey
and A. Curtis) (Heinle & Heinle). His textbook projects
include ATLAS,
Go For It, Listen In, Speak Out and Expressions,
all published by
Heinle & Heinle/Thomson Learning. Go For It
has recently been selected and adapted by People’s Education Press
as a basal textbook series for middle schools in China. He
was President of

Dave
Sperling lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife and
two children. He is the creator of the well-known ESL/EFL website,
Dave's ESL Cafe,
as well as the author of 'The Internet Guide for English Language
Teachers', 'Dave Sperling's Internet Guide', and 'Dave Sperling's
Internet Activity Workbook'. Dave began his teaching career in Asia
in 1985, where he taught several years in Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
After returning to the United States, Dave completed his MA in Applied
Linguistics at California State University, Northridge in 1995,
and began teaching in their Intensive English ESL Program.
Excited
about the powerful learning potential of the Internet, Dave started
building his website, Dave's
ESL Cafe, which evolved into a central meeting place on the
Internet for ESL/EFL students and teachers from around the world.
Today Dave's ESL Cafe has grown to thousands of individual web pages,
and receives millions of accesses each month from students and teachers
from over 160 different countries.
